Wayfinder is looking for an enthusiastic hospitality professional to be part of the team in our Urban Cellar Door in the heart of Dunsborough. Opening later this year the venue will offer visitors the opportunity to enjoy wine tastings, casual dining, a carefully curated wine list, and a calendar of events designed to be both fun and educational.

We are seeking a skilled and talented Chef who can showcase the finest seasonal food from the stunning Southwest region. If you have a flair for creating delightful shared plates and are eager to work in a progressive Urban Cellar Door, this role is perfect for you!

Key Responsibilities:

As our Chef, you will play a pivotal role in crafting an extraordinary culinary experience for our guests. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Crafting new and exciting dishes, highlighting the best seasonal produce from the Southwest region.
  • Ensuring our menu caters to dietary requirements while maintaining creativity and flavour.
  • Cooking with precision and timeliness, delivering an exceptional dining experience.
  • Presenting dishes with an artistic touch, making each plate visually appealing.
  • Keeping track of food stock and placing orders to maintain our high quality standards.
  • Effectively control costs, expenses and minimise wastage while adhering to company budgetary guidelines.
  • Experimenting with recipes and suggesting new and innovative ingredients.
  • Ensuring strict compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborating with the Venue Manager and wait staff to introduce enticing specials as required.
  • Manage and create seven day rosters for kitchen staff.
  • Leading and training our small kitchen team to elevate their skills and creativity.

Role Requirements:

We are looking for an exceptional Chef who meets the following criteria:

  • Proven work experience as a Chef or Cook with a passion for culinary excellence.
  • Have a flair for the art of food and wine pairing.
  • Truly excel in the art of crafting exceptional menus elevating the dining experience with creativity and innovation, avoiding mundane and standard fare.
  • Elevate your culinary creations to perfection and delight our guests, ensuring they return for more unforgettable food and wine experiences.
  • Hands-on experience with various kitchen equipment, showcasing your expertise.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to lead and inspire others.
  • Lead a small team while actively participating in the day-to-day culinary and kitchen operations.
  • Exhibit professionalism, approachability and foster collaborative interactions
  • Have prior experience functioning within an open kitchen setting. Having a heightened level of self-awareness in your demeanor is critical.
  • Ability to stay composed and excel under pressure, managing multiple tasks seamlessly
  • Familiarity with sanitation regulations to maintain the highest hygiene standards.
  • Culinary diploma or similar, reflecting your dedication and skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet the demands of our Urban Cellar door
