Dominique Portet is a family owned winery with French heritage located in the heart of the picturesque Yarra Valley, and comprises ten generations of winemakers. We focus on a range of wine styles including Traditional Method sparkling, Rosé, and Cabernet varieties - and have recently invested in the Upper Yarra Valley with a focus on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

We are seeking a qualified, experienced and ambitious Winemaker to work alongside Chief Winemaker Ben Portet.

The position will commence at the beginning of November and be based at our winery in Coldstream. The successful applicant will be hands on, responsible, technically excellent and technology-savvy - with a will to push themselves to produce outstanding quality wines.

Requirements :

• Practical winemaking experience of at least 5 years
• Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Winemaking/Oenology
• A passion for the wine industry
• Ability to people manage and ensure a positive working environment and culture
• Wine bottling line experience preferred (the estate does all of its own bottling)
• Sparkling winemaking experience an advantage
• Experience with Vintrace preferred
• Be dedicated to quality and control in winemaking and have a 'hands on' approach
• Be ready to take a step up in responsibility, while fitting into a family operation with strong vision
• Have a valid Australian Driver and Forklift Licence

The successful applicant will assist the Chief Winemaker in the following areas :

Maintain and improve the quality of wine
Undertake quality control procedures
Ensure winemaking/cellar procedures are followed
Liaise closely with and support our Assistant Winemaker
Maintain and develop winemaker / cellar skills for ongoing best practice in cellar
In preparation and ordering of all dry goods and packaging requirements
In preparation and dispatch of orders
In preparation of blends for bottling

Please note you will need to be physically capable of performing operational duties due to the hands on approach of this role.
