Howard Park are a pioneering West Australian family wine company, producing a range of handcrafted fine Australian wines from the state’s premier grape growing regions of Margaret River and the Great Southern.

We are currently seeking a suitably qualified and experienced hands-on Vineyard Operations Manager to manage the day-to-day operations of three vineyards in the Great Southern region.

Mount Barrow – 60 ha. Planted with 7 clones of Pinot Noir plus Chardonnay, Riesling & Sauvignon Blanc

Abercrombie – 10 ha. Cabernet Sauvignon vines producing fruit for our premium Abercrombie label.

Gibraltar Rock – 11ha. Mainly Riesling with small area of three other varieties.

Our vineyards are located central to three South west towns- Albany (40 min), Denmark (40 min) and Mount Barker (10min).

The successful candidate will report to the Group Vineyards Manager, Steve Kirby, and will manage a small team working in the South West region. The vineyard and winemaking teams are committed to improving wine quality with a focus on sustainability.

Job Requirements

Key responsibilities of the position:

  • Manage and schedule viticultural activities
  • Supervise vineyard team
  • Manage contract labour and machinery providers
  • Work to high standard ensuring all activities performed are in keeping with company’s quality objectives
  • Maintain vineyard infrastructure & machinery to a high standard
  • Maintain viticultural records
  • Have an understanding and work within OH&S and QA standards
  • Maintain SWA accreditation

As a person, you will have:

  • Tertiary degree in Viticulture or equivalent highly regarded
  • Several years of experience in vineyard management role
  • Strong planning, time management & organisational skills
  • Understanding of viticultural principles
  • A passion to innovate, improve and succeed.
  • Excellent leadership, motivation and people management skills.
  • Hands on approach and willingness to engage in daily vineyard operations
