About the role

We’re seeking a Vineyards Operations Manager to join our dynamic team. This role is responsible for the direct management of our Coldstream vineyard, as well as overseeing the management of the Strathbogie and Whitlands vineyards.

Duties for this role include:

  • Leading, mentoring and coaching 3 direct reports, and 8 indirect reports;
  • Developing and implementing soil and plant nutrition strategies across all three Chandon vineyards;
  • Coordinating vine pruning programs, in addition to overseeing the effective implementation of vineyard development and redevelopment activities (re-planting or re-trellising);
  • Maintaining and contributing to documentation of operational procedures and record keeping in accordance with various business and statutory requirements;
  • Collaborating with the Finance Department in developing, implementing and monitoring operating and capital expenditure budgets; and
  • Investigating and implementing sustainable practices across the vineyards, inclusive of managing successful certifications as required.

Please note regular travel to both the Strathbogie and Whitlands vineyards will be required as part of this role.

Requirements

In order to be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Viticulture, Agriculture, or a related field;
  • A minimum of five years of practical vineyard and winery experience;
  • Strong mechanical skills, with proven experience in the operation and maintenance of vineyard machinery;
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership and manage a team of employees; and
  • Excellent computer skills, attention to detail and time management.
