We are currently seeking a full-time vineyard hand to work in our strong team at Peter Drayton Wines

Peter Drayton Wines is one of the Hunter Valley's most visited venues for great wines, craft beer, ciders and casual food. It is the home of Ironbark Hill Brewhouse, Enzo weddings, and impressive luxury accommodation.

This is a unique opportunity to work in a beautifully equipped modern boutique winery that also has a Brewhouse and will soon include a Still which will enable a range of spirits to be added to our already much-admired range of estate produced wines, ciders and craft beers.

Our Ironbark Hill vineyard has under cultivation 18 varieties of grapes which include the varieties the Hunter Valley is famous for, but also a range of alternative varieties from Italy, Spain, Portugal, and France.  We also source grapes from other vineyards and regions.

The successful applicant will join our small but energetic team as we craft a wide range of premium quality dry wines, sparkling and fortified wines.

Job requirements include:

  • Operate vineyard machinery - tractors, grape harvesters, multi-row equipment
  • Apply pest control and spray applications.
  • Perform irrigation repairs and maintenance as well as fertigation of vines.
  • Run vineyard operations smoothly, efficiently and in a timely manner as per instructions.
  • Assisting in grounds and property maintenance as required.
  • Effective record keeping.
  • Ensuring all machinery is maintained and serviced to a high level.
  • Helping the winemaking team in the quieter months.
  • Deliveries of either wine or dry goods when required.
  • Maintaining a clean and productive work environment

What we are looking for:

  • Enjoy working in the outdoors.
  • Have a keen interest in wine.
  • Possess a strong work ethic.
  • Have the ability to work long hours as required when meeting deadlines and spray windows.
  • Experienced in usage of vineyard and farm equipment.
  • Manual drivers license.
  • Forklift license is beneficial but not required.
  • Chemical certificate beneficial but not required.
  • Australian citizen or approved working visa in Australia.
  • Can do attitude and ability to follow instructions.
  • Positive communication skills.
  • Ability to work in an efficient manner either by yourself or in a team.
  • Ensuring all work onsite is conducted in a safe and efficient manner.
