Sidewood Estate operates a 2,000 mt winery and counter pressure bottling line, and owns four vineyards with over 100 h.a. under vine.

Nestled in the picturesque Adelaide Hills, we are  renowned for creating beautiful, balanced, and elegant wines that truly represent the region's distinct terroir. We are immensely proud of our rich heritage, garnished with over 50 prestigious trophies and 400 gold medals. Now, we are looking for an experienced Senior Winemaker to join our team and help continue this legacy of excellence.

About the Role

As our Senior Winemaker, you will be at the heart of our operation from winemaking to responsibility as the Site Manager. You will have the opportunity to utilise your creativity, expertise, and passion for viticulture to craft exquisite wines that delight the palate and encapsulate the unique essence of the Adelaide Hills.

Key Responsibilities

  • This position is responsible for Site Management of Cellar, Laboratory, Production and Warehouse activities;
  • Overseeing all winemaking and cider activities, from vineyard, orchards to bottle;
  • Developing innovative strategies to maintain and enhance our wine quality;
  • Collaborating with our dedicated team to promote continual improvement;
  • Managing harvest logistics and scheduling;
  • Overseeing bottling winemaking, canning and kegging;
  • As a contract facility, support and oversee the making and bottling of wines for external clients;
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and maintaining the highest standards of health and safety
  • Mentoring junior members of our winemaking team and sharing your knowledge

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Viticulture, Enology, or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a winemaking role with a proven track record
  • Advanced knowledge of wine production techniques, wine tasting, and sensory evaluation
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire a team
  • Experience with EZY winery management software an advantage.
