Position Overview:

We are looking for a proactive Winemaker to join our team at Sobels Winery. This role involves overseeing the winemaking process, from grape selection to bottling, ensuring the highest quality of wine production. The ideal candidate will have a strong background (at least 5 years) in winemaking, a keen eye for detail, and a deep appreciation for the art and science of winemaking. A valid RSA (Responsible service of alcohol) license is required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the entire winemaking process, including fermentation, aging, and blending.
• Monitor and maintain the quality of wine at every stage of production.
• Develop and implement winemaking techniques to enhance the flavor profile and quality of our wines.
• Conduct regular tastings and quality control checks to ensure consistency and excellence.
• Manage inventory of wine stocks and coordinate bottling and labeling processes.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the winery and cellar areas.
• Assist customers with wine tasting and purchases, providing excellent customer service when needed.
• Support and collaborate with other team members in good manner and working efficiency.

Requirements:

• A valid RSA (Responsible service of alcohol) license.
• Proven experience in winemaking, with a minimum of 5 years in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of winemaking techniques, equipment, and processes.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical ability to lift and move heavy barrels and equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
