Lightfoot Wines is a leading grape grower and winemaker in Gippsland.  We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic person to join our small team who is experienced in hospitality and has a passion for wine.

This role is primarily in the cellar door, however additional opportunities to gain further experience and professional development in Sales & Marketing, Viticulture and Winemaking are also possible.

Our award-winning cellar door is an essential part of our business, providing an educational and engaging wine experience for guests.  Guests are invited to visit us to learn more about our wines and our approach to viticulture and winemaking.  Our cellar door has won multiple awards including “Best Larger Cellar Door” in Gippsland from Gourmet Traveller WINE in 2023

The Role

Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Assistant manager is a key role within the business, ensuring guests visiting the winery enjoy a high-quality experience.

• This role is a permanent casual role with scope to become full time with work in other areas of the business. Previous people to hold this position have gone on to build careers within in the wine industry.
• Experience in hospitality and leading a small team is essential as this role requires running some shifts and taking ownership of everything cellar door related.
• Cellar Door operating hours Fri – Sun 11am-5pm. Weekend work is required, no evening work required.
• Hosting guests and conducting wine tastings.
• Promotion of Lightfoot wines, on and off-site.
• Manage staff on shift when Marketing Manager is not present.
• Support Marketing Manager with weekly administration and day-to-day running of the Cellar Door.
• Maintain cleaning and OH&S standards.
• We are a small business so there will be times when you will be working across all areas of the cellar door.

Criteria:

• Experience in Hospitality.
• A passion for customer service – while this is in a hospitality environment success in this role will come down to sales and service.
• Experience with supervising and staff training.
• Current drivers licence.
• Ability to work autonomously and make decisions in the cellar door that are consistent with Lightfoot Wines core values.
• Be legally allowed to work in Australia.
• Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate.
