Cool Climate – Tasmania’s East Coast
Large Scale Premium Vineyard
Brown Brothers, a family-owned winery, is one of Australia’s most loved and trusted wine brands. With premium vineyards in Victoria and Tasmania, our family of wines has grown to five brands - Brown Brothers, Devil's Corner, Pirie, Tamar Ridge and most recently Innocent Bystander.
Located on the East Coast of Tasmania (near Bicheno), The Hazards Vineyard is a picturesque cool climate vineyard getting its name from the Hazards ranges that can be seen while looking over the vast vineyard landscape winding its way along the edge of Moulting Lagoon.
The Hazards Vineyard produces exceptional quality grapes destined for the highly acclaimed Devil’s Corner Wines and is the home of the Devils Corner Cellar Door and Lookout. The 180Ha vineyard consists of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling. Due to the large nature of the of the vineyard area, multiple parcels of fruit are produced utilising various management techniques to create a diversity in wine styles delivering complexity across the Devils Corner range.
Reporting to the Vineyard Manager, you will be responsible for guiding a dedicated and talented operations team undertaking a variety of vineyard activities to meet seasonal requirements of existing plantings as well as the development of new plantings in accordance with best practise management standards. You will also be tasked with overseeing various contractors monitoring their quality and performance throughout the year.
As an all-rounder you will have practical experience in plant operation, an ability to communicate at all levels, the capacity to undertake administration duties and OHS compliance. Experience in a viticultural or horticultural environment and a keen eye for detail is essential to meet the requirements of this role. Tertiary qualifications are not essential; however this would be an ideal learning environment for a graduate to develop.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be working at the cutting edge of cool climate viticulture in one of the fastest growing wine regions in the world.
