Established in 1978, Oakridge is recognised as one of the most important and highly regarded producers of cool climate wines in Australia. A specialist in the production of chardonnay and pinot noir, Oakridge is known for producing distinctive single-vineyard wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Yarra Valley.

About the Opportunity at Oakridge:

As the Winemaker, you will report directly to the Senior Winemaker and play a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day operations within the winery. You will also be involved in active engagement with trade through our on-trade distribution partners, wine club members and various company banner groups to represent and promote the Oakridge brand. Active participation within the broader winemaking community of the Endeavour Drinks Group with various other winemaking projects is also expected.This is a hands-on role with a broad range of responsibilities, requiring a committed and proactive approach to maintaining positive relationships across all areas of the business.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Organise winery work, plan and execute cellar operations
  • Help coordinate and manage bottling schedules, supplies and regulations
  • Organise and schedule the maintenance of winery equipment
  • Maintain the bulk wine and barrel inventory database
  • Prepare wines to style, schedule and budget
  • Be actively involved in workplace Health & Safety
  • QA and compliance including cellar and laboratory standards
  • Ensure LIP and allergen/export requirements are met
  • Active supervision and training of vintage staff
  • Assist in contract winemaking and intercompany winemaking projects

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Tertiary qualification in Oenology
  • Relevant winemaking/vintage experience
  • Disciplined wine taster with a good understanding of international and domestic wine styles
  • Forklift and driver’s licences

  • Articulate and a good communicator
  • Physically capable of undertaking cellar duties
  • Ability to travel domestically
  • Capacity to work extended hours when required
