Description

Whitebox Winery is located in Cornella, in the middle of our 80 hectare vineyard. We also have 80 hectares of vineyard in the Yarra Valley – a really nice selection of fruit from two contrasting climates at our disposal each vintage.

We’re looking for a winemaker to join our small team. We’re not in a rush – we’re willing to wait for the right person.

We’re after someone who Ideally has a few vintages under their belt; someone who wants to take the next step in their career. Our winery is well kitted out; we can make wine from small scale (50kg),  up to 25 tonne batches. Our lab is pretty well equipped, and our vineyards grow a multitude of varieties. There’s everything in place for the successful appointee to make a real mark in the industry.

The appointee will have shared responsibility for many areas of the business, from paddock to plate.  Areas of particular importance include (but are not limited to):

  • involvement in creating, improving and upholding company culture and workplace policies, including engendering a dedication to constant improvement within the team
  • workplace safety
  • vineyard management and improvement
  • record keeping
  • laboratory operations
  • winery management and improvement
  • marketing
  • wine shows
  • bottling
  • quality control

The successful applicant can expect to undergo a three-month trial period, which (if mutually agreed) will be followed by a permanent appointment.

A salary package (commensurate with experience and qualifications) may include

  • Use of company mobile phone
  • Wine allowance
  • Use of company motor vehicle
  • Extended leave for overseas vintage experience
  • Extended leave for technical conference
  • Use of company laptop

The company is establishing a scheme of employee profit-sharing, and after a short period of proof of a successful track-record, the appointee may be invited to take part in this initiative.

There is basic accommodation available on-site which will be available during the three month trial period, and by negotiation thereafter.

Please feel free to ask as many questions as you like regarding this exciting opportunity and position by emailing Peter Wilson  winery@stuartco.net.au with the subject “Winemaking Position”.

If you can see yourself in the role - apply by emailing me (at the same address) a covering letter and C.V.
