VINTAGE WINEMAKER

We are seeking the services of a Vintage Winemaker to join the small, but dynamic team at the company’s winery in Lyndoch for vintage 2023. This is a multi-faceted role requiring hands on involvement in all aspects of the winemaking process including, but not limited to managing fruit receival and fermentation, programming cellar work flow, supervising a small proficient cellar team, record keeping, sensory assessment, fining trials and laboratory analysis.

This is a rare opportunity to join a highly successful family-owned business, work in one of Australia’s most well-known wine regions and become an integral member of a team striving for excellence. There is a possibility of a longer term role for the right candidate post-harvest.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Oenology or related field
  • At least 3 years’ experience in all facets of wine production
  • An understanding and appreciation of Australian and international wine styles
  • A passionate desire to make wine in the Barossa
  • A solid base of technical winemaking knowledge and experience to draw on
  • Strong organisational ability
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • An excellent work ethic with an unquestioned attention to detail
  • An understanding and commitment to OHS &W, environment and quality control systems
  • The ability to work effectively either independently and as part of a small team
  • Current Drivers and Forklift License
  • Able to work permanently in Australia

VINTAGE CELLAR HANDS

Schild Estate is a Barossa Valley based winery with a strong history of success and a focus on producing premium red wines from our extensive vineyard holdings. As part of our preparations for the 2023 harvest, we are looking to fill several vintage cellar hand roles at our winery in Lyndoch.

Our vintage team can expect to work closely with the winemakers and be involved in all aspects of the winemaking process including grape maturity testing, crushing, ferment management, pressing, barrel operations and basic laboratory work.

We are looking for passionate, enthusiastic hard workers who possess a genuine desire to be fully involved in the process of making great wine, in a positive and quality-driven environment.

Job Requirements

  •      Able to work in Australia with either residency or a valid working holiday visa
  •      Fit, healthy and able to undertake manual tasks
  •      Willing to commit to long hours and weekend work
  •      Able to fit in and operate effectively in a small team
  •      Be punctual and reliable
  •      Possess excellent attention to detail
  •      Previous winery experience will be well regarded as will a forklift license.

Job will start early February and end late April.
