Job Summary
The Vineyard Hand will be an integral part of our vineyard team, responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of 78 hectares of vineyards spread across four distinct sites in Barossa - Nuriootpa, Greenock, Mengler Hill, and Craneford. This role requires a hands-on approach and a strong commitment to producing high-quality grapes for our winery.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to all safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Operation of tractors and agricultural equipment with a range of implements.
- Perform routine upkeep and preventative maintenance of equipment.
- Perform manual tasks as needed including irrigation maintenance and operation, trellis repairs, canopy management, ground upkeep or any other general tasks required for vineyard or property upkeep.
- Assist in coordination and execution of the harvest process, including grape picking, sorting, and transportation to the winery.
- Maintain appropriate records of all vineyard activities, including spray applications, irrigation schedules, and harvest data.
- Work closely with other members of the vineyard team to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
- Provide regular reports to the Vineyard Manager on vineyard conditions and progress.
- Any other reasonable activities requested by management or leadership.
Requirements
- Commitment to safe work health and safety.
- Previous experience in tractor operation is preferred.
- Ability to work well independently and in a team.
- A focus on high quality grape production.
- Ability to maintain strong communication and relationships.
- A current Australian drivers licence.
- Chemcert certificate or willingness to attend training.
- Flexibility to work occasional weekend or extended hours during peak seasons, particularly during harvest.
