Montara Grampians Wines has a proud history of making premium wines in the Grampians for over 50 years.
The winery has had great success over this time in both domestic and export markets- gaining numerous
awards, trophies and medals as well as a current 5 star Halliday Wine Companion rating.

The opportunity has presented for a suitably qualified Winemaker/Vineyard Manager
to join our organisation. Reporting to the General Manager you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of grape growing and wine production from the Montara vineyard and winery.
A passionate, quality and details focused person is required for this challenging and diverse role, based
in Ararat, Victoria.
You will be responsible for a small team onsite, as well as coordinating seasonal contract labour and
external contractors to undertake tasks as required.

The successful applicant will posses high level technical skills and be a ‘hands on’ manager of the
winery/vineyard.
Ideally you will be versed in both Winemaking and Viticulture to fulfil the requirements of the position.

Job Requirements
• Qualifications and/or proven experience in Oenology, Viticulture, Horticulture or Agriculture
• A highly developed palate/sensory skills
• An intuition for ‘reading the play’ with regard to the growing season, and the requirements for
premium grape growing
• Strong laboratory skills in the assessment of wine parameters/quality control
•Experience in operating bottling equipment and the preparation of wines for bottling
• Experience in vineyard chemical application
• Experience in operating a range of vineyard and winery equipment
• Ability to work autonomously and manage time effectively
• Ability to lead a small team, providing supervision and guidance
• Mechanical aptitude/ability to trouble shoot
• Strong managerial and organisational skills
• Be a confident communicator and advocate for the Montara brand

• Be safety focussed with a solid understanding of OHS
• Be able to work extended hours during the seasons, particularly at vintage and various times
through the growing season
• Ability to multi task and be an all rounder in all facets of the business
• Be able to assist in promotions and events (with some travel) to promote the Montara brand

Desired Skills
• MS Office and general computing/IT skills
• Experience with the Ezywine software platform
• Forklift licence
• Chemcert accreditation
• Full Australian car drivers licence
