An amazing opportunity to join the Cupitt’s Estate Winery Team as a full-time Cellar Hand working directly with the Winemaker in all aspects of the winemaking process. Located on the stunning South Coast of NSW, you’ll be joining a family-owned business that also includes a brewery, fromagerie, cellar door, restaurant and luxury accommodation.

About this Opportunity

The total annual winery processing volume is around 100 tonnes. Our wines are influenced by the traditional methods of France and Italy. We produce an extensive portfolio of wines sourcing fruit from 5 different regions of NSW.

You’ll be part of a dynamic winery that produces a great portfolio of wines. Varieties produced include Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Viognier, Fiano, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Gruner Veltliner, Gewurztraminer, Arneis, Vermentino, Marsanne, Rousanne, Pinot Noir, Gamay, Shiraz, Cabernet, Merlot, Malbec, Tempranillo, Barbera, Nebbiolo, Montepoluciano and Sangiovese.

For the 2022 Halliday Wine Companion, we picked up 5 Silver and 4 Bronze medals and kept our overall 4.5-star rating. The Winery is also a Hall of Fame winner for the Wineries, Breweries and Distilleries category at the NSW Tourism Awards.

Working in a family-owned and run business, the successful applicant will be in the enviable position of working directly with the winemaker in all aspects of the winemaking process.

Key Duties:

  • Grape receival, sorting & pressing
  • Additions
  • Bench trials
  • Tank transfers and racking
  • Filtration processes
  • Barrel management
  • Bottling wine
  • Red and white ferment management
  • Cleaning and sanitation operations
  • Vineyard work prior to harvest, including vine management and grape assessment/analysis

Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Positive and collaborative attitude
  • High level of accuracy, organisation and attention to detail
  • Ability to work as part of an integrated, busy team as well as individually
  • Ability to prioritise and juggle tasks
  • A strong work ethic
  • Excellent level of fitness and enjoy being active on your feet
  • Practical and hands-on with an ability to problem solve
  • High standards for cleanliness
  • A growth mindset with a curiosity to try new ideas with the ability to learn and adapt quickly
  • A current Australian Standard forklift licence
  • Driver’s Licence and own reliable transport is essential as no Public Transport is available
  • The right to live and work in Australia

Additional expectations of the role during Vintage Feb to May:

  • The ability to work weekends or night shifts if required
  • Able to work longer hours during the vintage period (you will be paid for your additional time)

It’s also desirable that you have:

  • An interest in wine and winemaking
  • Experience in a food or beverage production facility
  • Vintage experience eg. Vintage Cellar Hand position
