Description

About us

Kay Brothers is McLaren Vale’s oldest family-owned winery, proudly crafting premium wines for over 130 years. We are committed to maintaining the same methods and location that have defined our brand for generations. Our friendly, close-knit team, including members of the Kay family, is dedicated to sharing this rich history and offering guests a warm, authentic experience.

At our cellar door, we’re passionate about giving visitors a true sense of our history and the stories behind our wines, ensuring every guest feels welcome and engaged.

We are looking for casual cellar door staff to join our experienced team.

The Role

We have multiple casual positions available, offering 2-4 shifts per week (including weekends and weekdays). There is potential for progression to a supervisory position for the right candidate. Key responsibilities include:

  • Hosting wine tastings, sharing our brand story and wine knowledge, and promoting our wines to increase sales and grow our mailing list and wine club membership.
  • Handling cellar door admin tasks such as processing sales, managing phone/web orders, taking reservations, and responding to enquiries.
  • Maintaining a clean and welcoming cellar door environment, including restocking shelves, clearing tables, polishing glasses, and light cleaning.
  • Preparing simple platters and tasting plates for guests.
  • Packing and despatching wine orders.

The role requires physical activity, including carrying bottles and glasses to our outdoor areas and restocking shelves.

This position is paid according to the Wine Industry Award, with generous staff discounts and a wine allowance.

About You

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Enjoy connecting with visitors and excel at both listening and communicating.
  • Have proven experience in customer service (retail or hospitality).
  • Possess a good understanding of winemaking processes and wine styles.
  • Are adaptable, open to new ideas, and willing to help improve the cellar door experience.
  • Thrive in a team environment and work well with others.

Experience in cellar door sales is desirable, but not essential.

Please send your CV to Elspeth Kay (elspeth.kay@kaybrothers.com.au).
