Maxwell Wines is looking for the right person to join our passionate team to manage the Maxwell cellar door and deliver a range of high-quality tasting and wine-tourism experiences. Previous experience in a similar role is preferred, however, a highly experienced and ambitious cellar door, hospitality, or tourism professional, ready to take the next step into management will also be considered.

Maxwell Wines, Est 1979, is a family-owned and operated, award-winning cellar door & restaurant with the winery viewable from the tasting room and surrounded by our ‘certified’ sustainable vineyards. The Maxwell team have established a reputation over many years for offering exceptional food and wine experiences. We have recently been awarded the 2021 Gourmet Traveller Cellar Door Awards & were named Great Wine Capitals Best Winery Restaurant.

Maxwell offers a hosted, seated tasting experience which allows for a more in-depth, premium and personal experience for guests.
The Cellar Door Manager is a key member of our team and plays a creative role in further developing the tasting experience.
With a century-old limestone cave, estate vineyards and picnic grounds including a hedge maze the tasting Experience can extend beyond the cellar door.

THE ROLE

As the Cellar Door Manager you will play a hands-on role in overseeing and developing the tasting and wine-tourism experience at Maxwell Wines. Working collaboratively with the Restaurant Manager, Direct Sales Manager and Marketing to achieve our strategic goals that you get to help establish.

This role requires you to actively seek new partnerships with 3rd party tourism resellers and local tourism businesses, as well as utilizing the Rezdy booking system and our strong working relationships with SATC and other tourism bodies.

Most importantly you will be able to lead by example in demonstrating exceptional customer service, further elevating our customer experience across our wine tastings and food and wine tourism products.

As well as managing the day to day operation and administration requirements of the cellar door, the Cellar Door Manager plays a key role in developing and executing the business Direct to Customer strategies including designing new tourism and tasting offerings, wine club growth and developing new cellar door events, as well as assisting in the hosting of wine club events.

This position will suit someone with previous experience in a similar role, however, a highly experienced and ambitious cellar door or hospitality professional ready to take the next step into management could also be considered. We are looking for proven sales abilities as well as a passion for wine and food.
You will have keen attention to detail and good administration and time management skills.

This a full-time position that includes weekends, public holidays, and some out of hours work and light travel.
A competitive salary, relative to experience, along with a wine allowance will be offered to the right candidate.

Key competencies:

• Experience managing a team (preferably in a hospitality, tourism or cellar door environment)
• Ability to train and motivate staff to deliver exceptional customer experiences and meet sales targets
• Experience with Wine Club recruitment
• Strong wine knowledge
• High standard of personal presentation and communication skills.
• Basic IT skills (Outlook, Microsoft Office)
• Strong time management, organisational and administration skills
• Stock control
• Ability to assist in the organisation and management of functions and events
• Experience working with Rezdy and CRM systems or databases would be advantageous.
