Description

The Role:

The Assistant Winemaker will have a hands-on approach to winemaking whilst supporting the Head Wine Maker to ensure that high quality wine is produced.

  • Wine transfers and use of all winery pumps
  • Barrel work including racking, cleaning and maintenance
  • Cleaning operations in regards all winery tanks, equipment and the winery environs
  • Laboratory testing and analysis including fining and blending trials
  • Preparation and addition of all required wine additives
  • Wine assessment/tasting
  • Operation and maintenance of all winery vintage equipment including forklift
  • Data entry into the winery record system via the EZY wine system.
  • Stocktaking as required.

About You:

  • Be studying winemaking and or have recently completed a degree
  • Have a high level of attention to detail
  • Have wine tasting experience of quality wines
  • Have obtained a high-risk forklift license & preferably a confined space permit
  • Be able to work well within a team and be able to lead the team as required.
  • Have own reliable car to drive to and from Maiden Gully

Balgownie Estate Bendigo is a 4-star Estate boasting stunning accommodation, a cellar door and fine dining at our newly renovated restaurant. Our original vineyards are the oldest in the region planted in 1969. From there Balgownie become an influential red wine producer in regional Victoria, producing rich savoury wines with moderate alcohol and intelligent use of oak. With Vineyards in both Bendigo and the Yarra Valley we produce all of our wine in our onsite winemaking facilities in Bendigo.

Must have full permanent working rights in Australia with no restrictions and weekend availability. No public transport is available to our location - must have your own transport.
