Applications are invited for a Winemaker at The Australian Wine Research Institute located within the University of Adelaide’s Hickinbotham-Roseworthy Wine Science Laboratory in Urrbrae, South Australia. The position is a 12 month contract. The new incumbent is required to be able to work well within a busy winery environment and to commence as soon as possible.

The Winemaker’s primary responsibility is the efficient and effective operational management and control of WIC Winemaking Services. WIC Winemaking Services is a joint venture between The Australian Wine Research Institute and the University of Adelaide and offers a small lot winemaking facility for viticulture, winemaking and processing R&D projects.

This is a ‘hands on’ role involving substantial active winemaking with operations principally undertaken on the premises of the University of Adelaide’s Hickinbotham-Roseworthy Wine Science Laboratory, and undertaken with the cooperation and support of the University’s Manager of that facility and other operational staff. As a member of the AWRI’s Industry Development and Support Group, the Winemaker may also become involved in other oenological and extension activities. 

The successful applicant should have skills and experience in winemaking.
