Vision:                              Responsible for the planning, development and management of internal and external communications requirements whilst driving the public relations agenda across the business at a leading winery

 

Reporting To:                Marketing Manager

 

Direct Reports:             Two direct reports: 1 x AE and 1 x AC  

 

Key Functions:             

External Communications

  • Work alongside Brand Managers to manage external Public Relations agencies on press office initiatives across the business’s portfolio (wine & beer)
  • Work with marketing to develop integrated public relations strategies and leverage existing brand platforms ensuring that they fall within agreed expenditure budgets and are consistent with the brand positioning
  • Overall responsibility for brand-led media relations including message development, media materials, media briefings and issues management
  • Develop and manage effective relationships with target media groups (in particular wine writers)
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with distributors around the world, in order to develop effective communications
  • Identify external audiences for communications and develop organisational communication strategy and tools
  •  Leverage media execution and public relations experience to improve media plans and solutions
  • Represent the brand at events and support in-market activities

Internal Communications

  • Work with key stakeholders  to drive range of activities - copy writing and message development, briefings for public engagements and media interviews, crisis communications, CSR programs, national sponsorship platforms and corporate reputation management
  • Develop relationships with cross functional teams, particularly sales and Marketing, to explore, execute and communicate strategies and tactics
  • Oversee all company websites and global social media strategy ensuring that information contained on these sites is relevant, salient, compelling and in keeping the brand and/or corporate positioning and guidelines.
  • Identify internal audiences for communications and develop organisational communication strategy and tools
  • Increase profile and awareness of public relations and its role within the cross agency/internal environment
  • Effectively communicate marketing activities and results internally
  • Regular liaison with industry associations and government representatives to ensure changes/news is communicated to internal and external parties

Corporate Communications

  • Create and manage a corporate communications plan that represents the brand values of the business and the founders

Function Development

  • Strategic management and leadership experience of staff including mentoring, training and staff performance review
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams, to develop effective communication strategies.

 

Requirements Communication Manager

Essential

  • Minimum 9+ year’s communications / PR experience.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret information
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organisational ability
  • Strong creative flair

Desirable

  • Tertiary qualifications in communications or related discipline
  • Wine industry knowledge
  • In-house experience preferred but not essential
