Working with Efeste Wine’s Winemaker, the Assistant Winemaker performs duties and functions to optimize wine quality, operational efficiency and integrity, and safety. The Assistant Winemaker will perform and/or supervise all aspects of cellar operations including bottling activities, harvest operations, laboratory analysis, daily wine upkeep, maintenance of winery equipment and provide vineyard-related support for the winery.
Successful candidate will have a combination of: University degree in Oenology & Viticulture or 2-yr Diploma in Winemaking & Vineyard Management from a technical institute with an undergraduate degree in related field; minimum 3 years previous Winemaking experience with small to medium-size producer of ultra-premium wines, comfortable with small lot fermentation of numerous vineyards, blocks and clones; well versed in Wine Quality Control techniques & Wine Laboratory operations; understanding of wine equipment operations, preventative maintenance and minor repairs; comprehensive understanding of vilification, viticulture, and wine styles; critical knowledge of cellar hygiene practices; well developed and detailed administration & computer skills to ensure timely and accurate completion of wine tracking, laboratory analyses entries and pre-bottling wine specifications. Applicants must also have mastered MS-Windows and MS-Office applications and have responsible experience with databases.
