About the role
Reporting to the Global Sales and Marketing Manager, this role is full-time position, working Tuesday to Saturday, and on public holidays as required. The Tasting Room Manager is responsible for managing the Tasting Room at Shaw + Smith's Balhannah property and leading this small yet dedicated team of approximately 12 staff (including casuals). The role comprises both customer-facing time and administration.
This role offers a great variety between hands-on customer service, leadership and administration. A typical day would see you undertake administration duties such as preparation of rosters, maintenance of the point of sale software and CRM, managing the dispatch of all customer direct orders, ordering and reconciling all tasting room stock and supplies and working closely with the wider Marketing department in relation to the organisation of events or wine club requirements. The Tasting Room opens daily at 11am and this is when you will be able to showcase your passion for wine, strong customer service skills and genuine desire to provide every visitor an unforgettable experience. You will have the autonomy to work on projects around innovation and improvement and the support from management to implement these into your team.
Skills & experience
You possess a genuine approach to dealing with customers and are equally focused on following through on your actions. Strong organisational skills are required as you juggle priorities on a daily basis as well as continuing to look at the big picture of the team and overall success of the Tasting Room. You will have experience in a similar role within a winery or restaurant along with wine knowledge, preferably including some formal training (e.g. WSET). The ability to identify staff training needs, work towards KPIs and budgets and maximise sales opportunities are all key components that you will need demonstrated experience within.
Culture & benefits
On offer is a dynamic and ever changing business, modern premises with a postcard perfect outlook, attractive salary plus an annual wine allowance, and the opportunity to contribute to this South Australian success story. You will reap the benefit of working for a well-respected and award winning brand where you have the support of the wider business, coupled with the opportunity to make this role your own by making recommendations and improvements within the Tasting Room experience.
