Fogarty Wine Group (FWG) aspires to produce world-class wines from the best regions in Australia and has recently acquired outstanding vineyard sites in Tasmania.

The Group has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and qualified Viticulturist to oversee the expansion of FWG’s viticultural division in Tasmania with planting of 200 hectares of new vineyards staged from 2019 to 2022 in south east Tasmania.

The successful applicant will be passionate, self-motivated, commercial, highly organised, be able to work independently, possess a fine wine grower mindset, and have good communication skills.

Reporting to the FWG Head Viticulturist, this role involves all aspects of vineyard operation, technical support, machinery operation and farm management and requires a minimum of five years experience.

The role also includes working with our partner winery, Tasmanian Vintners, and assisting the FWG Head Viticulturist with grower liaison to support contract growers and ensure all fruit meets winery standards.


  • Assist the FWG Head Viticulturist to ensure the operation is efficient and one of the leading viticultural teams in Tasmania.
  • Produce exceptional quality fruit at targeted grade and cost.
  • Regularly monitor and report on work program outcomes, pest and disease status, soil and vine health.
  • Comprehensively measure, monitor and report on operational and capital vineyard expenditure, yield forecasts and production outcomes against budget using ERP, Excel and other database software.
  • Lead the viticulture team, including contractors, by example to promote quality, efficiency, adaptability, motivation and ensure safety in each task.
  • Ensure all vineyard staff and contractors are adequately trained and competent to perform their duties to the highest quality, productivity and safety standards.
  • Maintain all vineyard assets, plant, equipment and infrastructure to the highest standards.
  • Ensure compliance with best practice wine industry bio-security environmental and safety protocols.

A valid drivers licence and forklift licence are essential, as well as a chemical user permit. The applicant must be an Australian citizen or resident or hold a valid Australian work visa.
